Installing temp gauge, where and how did you tap in to the cooling system?

Yes, on the driver's side of the water pump. Drain the radiator into a 5 gallon bucket, remove the plug and no water should come out. Or do it the easy (hard) way by removing the plug quick, have coolant shoot all over the driveway and yourself while frantically trying to get the sender in.

Yes this is the access hole for the coolant filter inlet. If you have a coolant filter, just use one of the horizontal plugs for the sender. The threads on the sender are most likely 1/8 NPT, and the threads in the pump is 1/4, so use the supplied bushing, and the sender end will not stick out into the water pump. I just installed one on the 1995 dump today.

Ad the filter too...

If your gonna ad the gauge, insted of taking the plug out, and putting in the sender, then later on doing the filter kit, do the filter kit first then put the sender into the filter head like in the second picture on this link above. I put one in, and after I changed the filter the first time...about 4000 miles, I cut the filter housing and poured the water into a clear cup. After a day or so, all the CRAP settled to the bottom. Grit, sandy stuff and stuff that was roaming around in the water...Not a pretty sight. I have yet to change it again but I am sure it will be a lot cleaner than it was the first time. I'm gonna do the 203* thermostat when the weather warms up....maybe before Daytona...we shall see...The filter is definitely worth it and easy to install too...
