ok i have a 1986 f150xl with an fuel injected 302 i just bought a carb 1975 460 out of an thunderbird i was also wondering the horse power and torque rateing the engine has just been rebuilt but i need to know everything i will need to do and buy to do the swap and how ok someone plz help

 

1986f150, I just did this swap in an 82 F-250 4x4. I can give a few pointers. You will need the factory frame mounts and motor mounts and a set of plates that mount between them and the block. These are Ford items. Or you could go the L&L route for the custom motor mounts. Do you have the AOD automatic trans? You would need to find a C-6 from an older Ford 4x4 with the 351M,400, or a 460. 460 passing gear rod. I am unaware if there is an adapter kit of some nature for this. I used the engine brackets and steering pump from a 79 E-250 Econoline with a 460 in it for my truck. My local NAPA custom made a power steering line to fit the Saginaw pump from the van. You will need the heavy radiator which can just be gotten for a 3/4 ton of your era with the 460. Radiator hoses factory replacemnets. I got a new thermostat housing for proper application so the top hose fits right. My A/C was junk so I scrapped it. Still have my cruise. You will need a factory off set oil filter adapater, of which I have an extra one.
