manual RAT 3.03 transmission in early Broncos

Howdy Bronco Bros,

I'm a F100 man myself, but i have a question for you all.
Ford 3.03 3-speed RAT transmissions were available on F-100 through F-250 trucks with a column-mounted shifter from '67 to '72.

I heard that they were also used in '66-'77 Bronco's

How were the manual RAT 3.03 transmissions in early Bronco's tagged ??

Have you ever seen a RAT-BS, RAT-H, RAT-H1, RAT-H2, RAT-H3, RAT-J, RAT-J1, RAT-J2 or RAT-J3 being used ??

Thanks
John

I think Number Dummy may be able to help you with the available suffixes.
I can remember seeing the H1, H2, and H3 codes but don't recall the others.

Qustion for Number Dummy

Hi Bill,

in one of your answers on Ford 3.03 3-speeds you wrote the following:

1966 Bronco 6 or 289: HEF-DB.
1967/68 Bronco: 170 I-6: RAN-N, N1 / 289: RAN-R. R1, R2 (1968)
==================================
1965/66 F100: 240 I-6: L/D HEF-BL or CH
1965/66 F100/250: 240 I-6: L/D HEF-BM or CJ
1965/66 F100/250: 240/300/352: M/D HEG-N, P, T, U, Y, Z or BE.
==============================
1967 and later F100/350's: RAN or RAT

Info source: 1965/72 Ford Passenger Car Parts Catalog-Section 70 (where Bronco's are listed), 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog-Section 70

So, if from 1969 thru 1977, all the Broncos V8's used RAT's would you happen to know the suffixes of them ??

Were they different from the F100 RAT's, namely:
RAT-BS, RAT-H, RAT-H1, RAT-H2, RAT-H3, RAT-J, RAT-J1, RAT-J2 or RAT-J3

Thanks,
John
