I went with the 3 yr. as well.Ive learned so much from this sight I owe them that much.I honestly don't think I will have to take my truck to a mechanic again. And I'm sure I will be working on it forever.

Well there is so much info here. I found out how to fix my door locks and the cause of my airbag light which I also got fixed. Along with other little tidbits as well. Of course there is the friendly banter that goes on. Search is a wonderful thing.

I'm totally impressed.I've recomended the site to other people with Ford truck's.One buddy of mine won't even change his own oil,so finding out how to do anything else to his truck is just a long shot.

If he was to find out how much money he would save over the years doing it himself that might make a difference.

Since my pre-app training I have had a vehicle in the shop once for some electrical issues, warranty oil changes and to have a couple remote starters installed. I don't like people working on my vehicles.

I've always done almost everything myself. Things like engine rebuilds & transmissions I'll get someone else to do. But most everything else is a walk in the park... Although it did take me 3 days to get the hinge bolt off my Alt, and then I had to yank the rad out, and put an impact gun on it...

I feel the same way Zip.There's been a few times I got some work done, and either they said they did it ,and it wasn't done,or they did it wrong.

I would probably do some engines(when I get my project I will build the engine) and transmissions but just have never had the room. It usually takes me more time but saves a wack of money. The biggest thing is I enjoy it. Neighbors sometimes learn some new words but it's something I do that I find relaxing.

What's better (when the wife's at work) than laying under the truck with a pile of parts, a beer, your dog and a pile of tools.

I ahve done most of my own work too. There is a few times I have had to bring my trucks in for something, once for electrical, and a few times for front end work.

I know exactly what your saying Zip,I feel the same way.But it's pretty hard to beat a good day's fishing.Sitting in your boat with a pile of fishing tackle at your feet, having a beer, with your dog beside you and a nice fish on the end of your line.

It's pretty hard to beat for sure. Just sitting enjoying life and watching the world go by.
