Think of the resale value you just gained on the truck by the odometer rolling back over to all 0's! Just like new again.
What kind of oil do you use? I run Shell Rotella in my 7.3 and my 460, never had a problem.
I have a 73 460 that had over 200,000 on it when I tore it down and there was barely enough ridge on the cylinder walls to catch your fingernail on, myself and the previous two owners used and abused it regularly, Ford tough.

This is nothing new.
Go to your next to closest truck stop and ask every hotshot in a Ford PSD how many miles are on the ticker.
Most are half a million or better, alot pushing a million and over.
I, for instance, just drove to Dallas and back. Left at Midnight and here I am at home. 750 miles into my work week and it's Monday, not even noon. Do that a couple few times a week and the miles rack up! I own two 7.3 PSDs that go to the west coast once a week. Do the math.
International's suggested break-in period for a DT444E is 300,000 miles.
That's the 'break-in' in a medium duty (OTR) application. The average Super Duty with a max trailer load still doesn't weigh as much as some of the 'trucks' these motors are in.
IMHO, a 7.3 PSD could never be overworked in our application (OTR or not). It takes a leap of catostrophic events to kill a PSD.
Ford would never pick 'one' guy with a million mile PSD because people'd be coming out of the woodwork looking for their paycheck. Think of all those guys hauling trailers from Indiana to Femaville. There's your Ford commercial.
