MILLION MILE MARK

<HR style="COLOR: #d1d1e1" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->well to start off. i work on a dairy farm. we haul cattle everywere in the US it seems like. we have a 2000 crew cab 7.3. we haul with every day. we hit the million mile mark .good truck. not even worn out. i would not trade a ford for anything. good truck. manual 6 speed 3 clutches and thats about it

i will take some pics. oh yeah been though lots of tires. we have a driver full time. we milk over 7000 cows and have over 15000 beef cows. we do alot of selling and buying. we had a semi do it. but that 7.3 keeps chuggin and its cheaper

<!-- / message -->changs lubs alot. we have had 2 sets of rear leaf springs. the turbo is still going fine. not as good as it use to. but it works. we have edge evolution on it set on tow. lots of brakes let me tell you. the eninge is still good tho. i have to haul cattle tomorrow

i will call ford .but my boss says. there is no way were getting rid of this hoss. <!-- / message -->

Think of the resale value you just gained on the truck by the odometer rolling back over to all 0's! Just like new again.

What kind of oil do you use? I run Shell Rotella in my 7.3 and my 460, never had a problem.

I have a 73 460 that had over 200,000 on it when I tore it down and there was barely enough ridge on the cylinder walls to catch your fingernail on, myself and the previous two owners used and abused it regularly, Ford tough.

That is an average of just under 350 miles a day, every day, seven days a week, and Christmas for eight years. That is a lot of driving!

Nothing like a Ford period. Cant say Ive seen a Chevy or Dodge with out the truck self destructing. Yah the Cummins will go a million miles but the truck will break you in maintaining it.

that's awesome. Great opportunity for Ford to make a commercial out of it.

Maybe this could help some of those dodge and chevy guys see the light and get away from the dark side.

Nah... Without them, we wouldn't know how good our trucks are! I say keep the million mile PSDs a secret.

This is nothing new.

Go to your next to closest truck stop and ask every hotshot in a Ford PSD how many miles are on the ticker.

Most are half a million or better, alot pushing a million and over.

I, for instance, just drove to Dallas and back. Left at Midnight and here I am at home. 750 miles into my work week and it's Monday, not even noon. Do that a couple few times a week and the miles rack up! I own two 7.3 PSDs that go to the west coast once a week. Do the math.

International's suggested break-in period for a DT444E is 300,000 miles.
That's the 'break-in' in a medium duty (OTR) application. The average Super Duty with a max trailer load still doesn't weigh as much as some of the 'trucks' these motors are in.
IMHO, a 7.3 PSD could never be overworked in our application (OTR or not). It takes a leap of catostrophic events to kill a PSD.

Ford would never pick 'one' guy with a million mile PSD because people'd be coming out of the woodwork looking for their paycheck. Think of all those guys hauling trailers from Indiana to Femaville. There's your Ford commercial.
