Hood trouble

Went to work on my 53 F100. Could not get the hood open. I could lift the hood at the cowl, but it would not lift up.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

They have two latches at the front of the hood...if they are stock. On my 56 the safetly latch is to the left of the main one.

2 latches? I have only used the one, just left of the grill center. I will have to look for another latch.

Mine has two. I forgot one day (cold yucky weather) last winter and was getting quite angry that the hood would not open....

Pulled out a NPD catalog and it shows two latches. I guess the main latch is to the right of the grill center? I have opened that hood several time but never used the main latch.

Doug ,I think the main lock works in "right to left" fashion ,the smaller in an "up-down" ,either way ,both are spring-loaded ,and the smaller one is just a back-up for the main...so your hood won"t fly open at 45mph...don"t ya hate it when that happens?Good Luck!!

really , two of 'em ? i had no idea i've just been using the one on the { if you're standing in front of it } the right side of me . geuss ill have to look too . and how long have i been driving this thing ?

My wife got me it for Christmas about 6 yrs ago. It is a project, but mostly a yard ornament. Just wanted to start playing with the truck. I have had the hood open but didn't ever use the main latch. I guess the last time I shut the hood, it latched like it should have. Yes this is the dumb move of the day.
