I've read in a few places that the Licoln engine in my F-250 is making around 360hp, its a 69. This seems a little high to me, but I know before the emissions laws alot of engines made more HP then what seems normal. Does anyone have a book they can look for me in, or know a place where I can get one with specs on this engine? Thanks.

 

Prior to '72, car manufacturers advertised gross hp. Those numbers were taken from an engine with no emissions equipment, no accessories, open exhaust and carefully tuned. In '72 net hp became the standard, testing for hp with full emissions, full exhaust, and lower compression ratios. Big drop in advertised hp.

The online store here has several books that can provide you with full specs on that engine.

 

2BBL 429's put out 320 HP
4BBL 429's put out 360 HP

Castings of heads & Blocks are are C9VE

The 460's 4BBL from 68-71 put out 365 HP.

Thanks Dennis, thats what I was looking for. Can't wait to race my freind in a few monthes that just dumped around 3 grand in his Small Block Chevy

 

The torque on a 68 Lincoln was 500.I think the 69 was too. Thats what will win the race.
