Still Full?????
I like drive the 79 once in a while to work, just to drive my play toy. I ran around Springfield some friday while I was off. Saturday I drove it to work, to Strafford, just under a 30 mile drive each way.
I haven't fixed the fuel gauge yet and knew it couldn't have much fuel left. So on the way back home from Strafford, I stopped in Springfield. Removing the fuel cap, there was gasoline sitting just behind the cap. Would only take a couple cups of gas.
I drove on home, (Ozark) stopped again, then it took almost half a gallon. I know this truck better than that. That thing should be down by atleast 10/12 gallons.
I ran a cable down the filler neck. Figure maybe somebody put a golfball something in the tank. Cable went all the way to the tank.
Any Ideas????
Bob

Yeah, keep us posted.
A fairly common issue that you MAY be having...sometimes, as the bed supports rot away, the bed starts to rest on the filler hose and/or breather hose, which will block off the flow of fuel into the tank and/or vapors out of the tank.
A year or so ago, I had to drop my front tank (the only one that works...) to replace the above mentioned hoses...while it wasn't fun, it wasn't too awful bad, either. As you can no longer purchase the skid plate, I had to do some custom fabbing to install straps to hold the flippin' thing in, but as I said, it wasn't too horribly difficult.
If you've only got one tank, I imagine it's behind the rear axle, correct? Dropping that tank should be easier...and the hoses weren't expensive. Crawl on down there and look!

Ya know, I'd thought of that today...and you, 6L Loser...
If the bed sagging is the problem, and Bob is not in the mood to fix it properly, he could use a bottle jack to raise the truck by the bed...just enough to jam a piece of 2x4 between the frame rail and the bed near the pinch point...then secure it with....
