I love mine, 12,500 miles no major issues. Towed up to 16,500 no problem. I'm just worried i am going to get sued when someone snaps there neck trying to check it out as i drive buy. LOL. These trucks are just as smooth as fine kentucky whiskey.
Just rolled over 21K on the odometer, with several thousand of those miles pulling large trailers. The only way I could be happier is if I got better mileage. Great truck!
I drive on Long Island every day and understand the BS of living out here. I looked very closely at the Dodge 6.7 and the Ford 6.4. The F350 is a awsome "truck". I have the F350 crew, single wheel, short, 3:73 manual six speed and I just cracked 20MPG with 4500 miles. No problems at this point. Im really happy with my decision to go with the Ford. The ride, the look and the overall package is the best on the market. I would ahve bought the Dodge until I seen the 08 Super Duty...The game was over.
I drive a F250SC 6.4 FX4 3:73 six speed manual with 3300 miles. I pull a 5er and it FEELS like a truck. The ride, handling, suspension, looks it's all good. 19.5 highway 15.4 city running MTY 12.1 highway with the trailer. Nothing better than peace of mind when towing.

14000 miles. No problems-love the truck.
Tom- I think the 6 speeds may be doing quite a bit better on fuel econ. I get 16 -20 highway depending on driving style.
Being called a reverse troll is about the best compliment I have had in this lifetime.
I too am on the vast strip mall called Long Island. Someday I hope to be out west in state where trucks are appreciated. I love this truck and will most likely buy it out at the end of the lease.

I have driven everything you can imagine and have an 83 Porsche 911 rag top but if I have my druthers, no matter the weather, I will drive my Sd. Wife has a Mercedes ML350 and sons have an Acura RL and a Jeep Wrangler. Of them all the SD is tops.
After 35 years on the road, this truck is the best ever. I gave up a Hummer SUT and have to tell you, this truck is the bomb.
Turban8r the anti Troll.
I love my truck, great truck and has all the power I want and need and rides good for ton and half truck and I like the interior. The only problem is mpg's and crapy tires on rear of truck for the winter other than that It's awesome truck. Great job Ford did on this truck plus I am diehard Ford truck guy and would own anything else!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great choice on your part. I've always driven manuals in my trucks. Some times I wonder if I should have stayed with it for fuel milage. The Auto seems to always hold it back a little. Like towing with the auto better than I thought I would. Just always found my 99 was always slow and akward shifting from 1st to second mty or towing. Sound like you have the secret of the best fuel milage.
I have to chime in and say I am very happy with my 2008 F350 SD with 6.4 Diesel as well. As of today I have 28000 miles on the vehicle. Other than oil changes and a tire rotation - no problems. The cab is solid, no rattles or squeaks, and so far - everything has been very reliable. I generally shy away from "first year" powertrain setups so that the "kinks" are all worked out, but in this case I have been pleasantly surprised.
My only regret is that I don't have the DVD navigation system installed and I am missing the traction control. The TSC system seems like a no-brainer to have in a light-in-the-rear vehicle like a pickup, but I bought off the lot and so my example just doesn't have it.
My only niggle is the exhaust particulate filter. It is sort of embarrassing to pull out into traffic only to blast everyone behind me in a white cloud of smoke that covers the highway. I hear truckers on the CB saying things like "Whoa! did you see that - on a new truck too!" - it looks to the untrained eye like some kind of engine failure! But - it only lasts about 30 seconds or so and then passes. I do find that buying fuel from dealers that sell a lot of diesel helps reduce the number of "white out" episodes. I imagine that's due to either impurities or water in the fuel at low volume stations.
A lot of hay has been made over the "low MPG" of the diesel. At 6600 lbs the truck isn't light. I am getting about 15 after 28K miles with the automatic. I find that idling and heavy traffic causes that average to suffer immediately and substantially. I also find that jamming the gas pedal causes that familiar sucking sound. Basically - when possible - I try to do "slow and easy" accelerations when I can, and I try to bump into overdrive on 2 lane roads when approaching hills etc - rather than upping the RPMs to climb at 48 to 50 mph - right below that shift point. Basically if you drive it like a rental, you'll pay at the pump.
I custom ordered my daily driver F350 crew, short box and here' s why.. Six speed manual, manual locking 4x4 hubs, maunal 4x4 stick, 3:73 limited slip, lariat with the Nav. Ford was only manufacturer that would let me order exactly what I wanted. For the price they want for these trucks you should have the flexabilty. I plan to have this truck for 10 years.
The fuel mileage is acceptable at this point with a best of 20 and a worst of 14 tipically 17 is normal. When in the DPF is in the regen cycle the mileage does go down then back up. I shift at 2000, it seem to like that RPM, light steady excceleration, 65 MPH maximum which is difficult at times, keep the turbo boost low. I am looking into a over drive unit.
Hey, I'm not the Fastest out there, thats why I have race car to play with. Haven't pulled a trialer yet but race season is coming soon..
