What do you want, horsepower or torque? For horsepower, go with after market heads intake, insanely huge cam, more compression, more cubic inches, and while your at it a blower, nitrous, run it on alcohol, maybe a shot of nitromethane, and top it all off with a quad turbo setup.

Put a cam in it, it will make a huge difference. I just got a cam form comp for my 460 and I can see the difference just by looking at the lobes of the stock one and the new one.

I haven't really tore into a 429/460, but it should be similar. Have to take off the intake, rocker arms, push rods, lifters, radiator, water pump, timing chain cover, timing chain and then the cam, and then reverse the process. It would take close to all day if nothing went wrong...
Id go with a comp 268. It gives you all the low end you want, more top end to 5500rpm, a real nice lope, and still get OK gas mileage, providing you keep your foot out of it.

not 100% sure but i would think a set of scj heads would wake that sucker up. dont know if they would work with the whole efi crap, but them are worth a bunch of power. someone around here should know. a hotter cam would help. but deff check this site out. http://www.performanceunlimited.com/...g/results.html
they did exactly what you want. power, acceleration, and mileage. at least check it out. the amount of acceleration that they unleased was amazing. the only thing you might want to watch for is the inspection stuff. obd II and sniffers. otherwise, some of the stuff on that site is worth good power/mileage and is relatively cheap and quick to do. really, most stuff is the same as would be with a stang, just with the 460. you might want to check out a stang forum or like summit racing with stang parts. it would be an easier way to get ideas and then implement or ask about them. always best to find out stuff first, then work them out. hope any of this helps.

Before you dump so much money into it try a few simple mechanic tricks. If your truck is equipt with a smog pump, eliminate it using a smaller belt, block of the egr, and eliminate the hoses going to the smog pump. I did that on my 94 350 and on take off i can break lose the 35s no problem. and a throttle body spacer off a newer super duty with a v-10 will fit on a 7.5 with minor modification.
