Tranny brake on '51 F-2
Hi, again, all...
Is there a source for the brake material on the tranny emergency brake on a '51 F-2? Tough to do? I imagine it's about like relining brake shoes, which I did years ago, before they got so cheap (or I got so rich ... yeah, RIGHT!).
I left my parts books (aftermarket) at work, and won't have them until next week. Stoopid me!
Thanks,
Roger

I don't know of a source, that's why I'm hoping in one of the aftermarket catalogs - I might check around Indy, or might have to go as far as chicago...closest bigger cities. I used to reline my own brakes, it's not that tough to do. It's the material that might be hard to find. Maybe not, I've been surprised before. I don't know if there's any vehicles that use a similar set up anymore. Perhaps...

Roger,
Take a look here http://www.mcmaster.com/nav/framework.asp?ReqTyp=CATALOG&CtlgPgNbr=3380&WRQuic kLinks=Brake+and+Clutch+Lining part way down the page they list the lining strips in several thicknesses and widths. Don't know if this will help or not but looks like a possibility.
You might want to visit earl's world George has a page that shows what he did to rework the tranny brake on Earl.

LOL...I remember that stuff from '60's JCWhitney catalogs! They used to have a section for Model T's and one for Model A's, if you can believe it.

I would encourage anyone who needs the F-2 tranny brake, to get this stuff...
Oh yeah, Scandanavia seems to still be in business, making brake stuff...
