my 7.3 shutters at 3200 rpm why?

I have a 03 7.3 with a super chip model 1705 stacked with the banks six gun chip that shows me my boost and my trany temp the six gun is made to stack with the super chip i also have a new tranny and air intake the truck only shutters at 3200 rpms if i am getting into it as you probably know that the 7.3 red lines at 3600rpm also you prabably know that the super chip takes the factory rev limter of . so what is going on with my truck i cant figure it out i also change the fuel filter many times due to idea of i might not be getting enough fuel. ANY SUGGESTION ARE WELCOME I AM LOST ON THIS ONE?????

Without properly diagnosing the problem, it sounds like you are running out of fuel pressure and/or an injector is worn out and/or the wiring plug is coming out under the valve cover.

Injector pulse width (on time) is too short at those RPMs and there is insufficient fuel being delivered.

The factory IDM starts cutting back injector on time at high RPM because it is unable to fire 2 injectors at once..and at 3200 RPM and up, the injector on time is quickly approaching the limit......right up to where the next injector needs to fire.

Besides, pushing a powdered-metal connecting rod to those extreme RPMs is just asking for a block window.

I run a 6speed and see over 3200 rpm with no problem I would start by returning your tune to the stock setting and take it for a run and see how she acts, while your hooked up check for codes.

And then sell that Superchip and/or the 6 Gun and take the money and get a DP tuner and guages. You will thank me later.

Sorry, but I just have to ask. Why in the world would someone want to buzz a 7.3 to 3200 rpm for any extended period in the first place?

It's not like they make any power past 2800 RPM. I guess I can see shifting at a higher RPM, but there is NO acceleration past 3000 anyway....

I run mine up there if I am in a hurry!! Besides over 100mph my odometer shuts off. Saves a few miles.

I know my dads 01 wont shut off, but on both of my 02's when the speedo hits 95 or 100 the digital odometer shuts off and the speedo goes to zero.

I take mine that high to shift every day, just not every shift. I do run it extended at that RPM when towing a heavy load up I-80 between Sacramento and Reno though.

I usually run it up to redline every day, usually every shift. I also top it out at 3400 rpm in od usually two or three times a week. The only things I have to say is that when I held it at redline for over ten minutes my water pump started cavitating, so I all most overheated.

Yes my wear metals are high on my oil analysis, but my last truck, which I did the same to, had SPOTLESS oil analysis every time. The wear paterns started in this engine before I ever got around to working it.
