The 6.4 has less turbo lag than the 6.0 off the line. My 6.0 used to be faster than a stock Dmax when it had the original 2003 calibration which had to be experienced to be appreciated. The truck had more power, quiet idle, a real tow haul and got a couple of miles per gallon better and this is all no b.s.
There are lots of us diesel farm boys out here and we play lots. I can tell you that a stock Dmax will outrun a 6.0. I have driven a few 6.4's and they didnt feel any quicker than the 6.0 but the cab is also way quieter so it may be deceiving. The 2008 Dmax makes more power than the 2007 did so this will change the outcome some. If you add a programmer to the 6.0 its a new game!!!! . However there are a few guys around here with chipped Dmax's now so I have to be careful talking trash.

nice. i wish it was an '08 Dmax though. i'm sick of the truck towing videos where the 2 trucks are no where near equal for size, class, etc. this was pretty equal in my mind as for weight and whatnot, but it'd be cooler if they were both '08s and both stockers.

Almost 140000 kms on my Michelins

I have a set of Michelins on my dually and very soon they will have 140000 kms on them. I have rotated them quite a few times - to do this properly on a dually with aluminum rims you have to dismount four tires.

How many Dmaxes have you had or have had experience with to make this statement? I like an exchange of information based on some facts and experiences but a statement like that is pathetically juvenile! I know this is a Ford truck enthusiasts web site but get real!!!

Its probably a good idea and if we ever discuss this it should be over a cool beer so this thread doesnt go the way of another one currently brewing!!
I hope I didnt upset anyone, but my current truck is the biggest P.O.S. that I have ever owned as far as reliability and dependability go and this has been the 6.0 experience. I am a real dollars and sense business person and the fact that I bought this truck and the public's perception has made for a very sad resale value once they are off warranty has pissed me off! However, I will compare it to a very high maintenance girlfriend that I once had. Both my truck and her were fun to be with, turned heads, and performed well when in a good mood .
I work side by side with my brothers Dmax and I get juiced by all our friends, family, neighbors, and employees about the fact that the only reason I keep this truck is to get days off when I go for service!!! Either that or I am doing some chick in the town where my dealer is at and my truck really doesnt go into the shop!
My brother has had the luck of the draw with his as it never goes in for anything!
I still like my truck better than his or any of my other friends Dmaxes or Cummins powered Dodges even though its had and continues to have problems. I just like to point some of this stuff out and be the devils advocate so to speak. The Ford rides better even though its a dually and has much more cab room. The Dmax is better on fuel and has a quieter cab. Stock vs stock the DMax is quicker as well. My brother is dead against chipping his but after I realized that the dependability of this truck just wasnt there to the point of being scared to compromise longevity I got a programmer and did my exhaust. I like to talk some trash now and then and the four stripes that my truck lays down are quite distinguishable! None of the other guys around here really want to line up if we put some money on the line!!
Thats the play side of my truck. now for the work side. Whe I use my programmer in the TOW mode it is literally a towing dream. After 25 or so years in the trucking industry I feel qualified to make that statement. This thing literally flattens any hills in the road, and the turbo braking along with the tow/haul being restored to where it was with the original 2003 calibration makes slowing and downhills a real treat.
Oh yeah, did I mention my truck looks hotter than most others just like that old girlfriend did! I wonder where that b***h is anyways!
On edit: I will buy the first beer!!!
