I'm doing a conversion... What did you do for a park brake?
What front axle do you have?

Really digging deep in the ol' noodle here. . .

iirc the F-SD is 10 lug? Never seen a 10 lug dana 60 hub outside of some Quigly Conversions. . .I don't beleive any of those years F-SuperDuties came 4x4 stock. . .I would assume it was because they used a drive line brake on the transfercase adapter in lieu of a parking brake assembly at the axle hubs.

And as for the parking brake. . .I would assume Quigly has a solution to this. I'm sure none of this is cheap. . .you might be best $$$$ spent on going with all 8 lug axle parts and parking brake stuff. . .like off a stock F350.

or maybe adapt some newer F450/550 metric axles out of the newer trucks?

I dunno. . .good luck!!

The F-Super Dutys are 10 lug. And none of them came factory in a 4X4 mode. Steve is correct in that Quigly did make conversions for them. That axle is expensive, if you can find them. Companies that used them a lot were the tree trimmer companies. You might find some old trucks with that conversion through some of those companies.

Yeah, all the 4x4s were 3rd. party conversions. Quigley wasn't any help, they don't have any parts left, and didn't want to look for any documentation for me... They made adapters for the 10 lug hubs for a Dana 60, and somehow put the driveline brake on the back of the transfer case, but they couldn't tell me how, or what t-case they used...

I was hoping to find someone with one that I could talk to...

Thanks,
Phy

The original F-SuperDutys have their emergency brake on the back of the transmission. Perhaps that end of the transmission bolts up to a transfer case. You would need to remove that end of the tranny to bolt it to a transfer case.

My buddy just bought 4wd F-superduty. Next time I see him I'll have to take a look.

Do you even have the need to haul 15,000lbs with your truck? It is a ******* to get parts for the conversion and god forbid something breaks or wears out

They probably had a custom rear case half made for the BW1356/4407 to give a flat flanged surface to bolt the driveline brake too. . .Gearvendors does this for there unit. . .

OR, figure out how to fab a divorced NP205 transfercase from an Old 70's F250 into your truck. Driveline brake would be where it is, then a short shaft to your T-case, then regular drive shafts. . .

All this sounds, and probably is time consuming and expensive. . .I would scour ebay and the local craigslist of the pacific northwest and see what kind of complete truck you can find and then franken-truck them together. . .

sorry, lol

That would be great! I'd love to buy you guys a couple beers for the trouble. Some pics of the driveline brake setup would be fantastic!

Yeah, I regularly overloaded my F350. (I once had about 11,000 lbs. in the bed...)
I'm now in the process of moving the dump bed, hydraulics, plow, and most of the interior from the F350 to the F-Superduty...

i have one. i swapped the D-60 and 10.25 rear out of an 86 F350 that burned up into it when it was 4 weeks old. to make it a single wheel, then put the pickup bed on it.
i hooked the parking brake cables up with the pickup stuff, and bolted the BW 1356 t-case to the back of the trans after i took the brake stuff off.
the superduty uses a 4X4 trans with the parking brake bolted to the t-case flange.

it sounds like you need a single axle truck. A F-superduty(f450) is only rated for 15,000 and an empty 2wd one weighs about 7,000. I am sure a 4wd one will weight closer to 8,000 and only leave you with a 5,000 weight carring capacity.

I got a 4wd F550 dump that is only rated for 18,000

Normally I'll be under 15k, but I was usually over the 11k rating of the F350. I'll be around 10,000 empty, with all the equipment on it.

tjc- I want to keep the Dana 80 rear with it's 11,000 lb. rating & disk brakes, so I need to do a driveline park brake...
(An F-Superduty pickup- Cool!)

Hey Diesel_Brad-
Did you ever get over to your buddys?
I emailed back & forth with a guy from Quigley, and he said they made an adapter that goes on the transfer case in place of the t-case output shaft housing that mounted the park brake, but didn't have a drawing or any dimentions... I can figure out the mounting surfaces, but could really use the length of the adapter. If you or your buddy could get a measurment & a pic or two, I'd be eternally grateful...

Thanks,
Phy

But you still have an F350 then. . .

Why not just buy a Military 6x6? 2320 - Trucks & Truck Tractors, Wheeled at Government Liquidation Lots to bid on, you could get one cheaper than converting your truck into something it wasn't meant to be
