Ford parts man and AIS intake.

Ford parts man and AIS intake.
I just started (second day) a job at a local FORD dealership... I can (with my employee discount, cost + 10%) get an AIS intake for $194, and get new filters for $62.
I have a nearly new 6637 that got FULLY covered in snow this winter and almost caused me to get stuck 2 miles out from my house in the middle of no where, during a blizzard. Granted the drifts I had to drive through got to be four and five feet tall, or 20-100 yards long. (of course not at the same time )
How does this sound to you all? Think it'll stop "air filter congestion" from happening in snow again?
My seccond question is if I buy it, do I NEED to do the zoodad to my truck, or is there some sort of cowling I could put infront of it to keep snow and rain out?

well with no mods like larger injectors and bigger turbo you will be perfectly fine with AIS, and dont do Zodad if you wont be sucking the filter minder in on the AIS system, do it only if you need, this way you will be fine if you hit those big banks of snow,
and lots of luck at FoMoCo dealer.

If I ever do those kinds of things, I will most likely move bat's to the back and run cables up front. That would make room for some jimmied double intake or something, but I really like the idea of running a filter type like the 6.0... just far superior filtration. I also got lucky with both the stock and 6637, 180k total miles and you could wipe the first tube with a white cotton glove and not get any dirt, tough you might get some oil from the second tube... I still need to do the ccv mod
Thanks! I've been bored with life and failed out of a 4 year college twice... I'm already extreemmely happy and it's a very exciting work environment for the kind of job it really is. I work at Decorah Auto Center in IA. 90% of the work they do is on super duty's!!! So I fit right in.
Farm boy with gravel roads and fine field dust, so the fender sleeve is out...

Congratulations on the new job. Your employee discount is better than mine was at the Ford dealer in Waterloo.
I did the AIS and the Zoodad. Haven't busted any drifts yet but I also am wondering about sucking H2O. I did a search on here before the Zoodad and read that sucking water didn't seem to be a problem, for what it's worth.

Thanks, I'm really enjoying it so far. What position did you hold, and what did you get for a discount over at Waterloo?
I've read a bit about the zoodad mod, but I just don't think I could do it around here, with as much poor weather driving I do, without putting a shield/deflector in front of the hole there...

Sneak, employee discount was cost plus 15%. I was in the parts department. Very interesting job and great people to work with. Definitely learned to agree with the saying "your attitude is your choice". Certainly made the day go better when everyone was willing to work with everyone else. Definitely remember the surprise the first time I saw a tech working on a 6.0 with the cab and front clip removed from the frame. It certainly was easier to access the engine, which became a frequent practice.
