Fuel additive study I found in the OBS forum

I have not seen this version yet on here so I thought I would Bring it up to our forum. http://www.johnfjensen.com/Diesel_fu...itive_test.pdf

I love how the MMO and other snake oils are actually worse than the baseline study. Lucas is no suprise. Gonna try the 2 stroke soon. I keep forgeting to pick it up. Also, I have been getting cases of the Ford brand anti-gel super cheap, the parts guy at the dealership thinks it goes bad, my gain. I thought I read on here that someone found that Stanadyne bottles it for ford. Is this true?

To be quite honest, I think this is the same study that was linked a number of months back. You're actually a lot better off if you can get bioD locally... all it takes according to the study is a meager 2% blend.

Here's a link to all the bioD retail stations in PA. Perhaps one or two are close by enough for you to take advantage.

I only got to see the chart in the other links I found. This one had the whole shebang. I wish I was close to those stations. Oh, well.

Ditto on the Bio-D.
I live 6 miles from a station that sells B-20 as it's only diesel fuel option and I love the way it burns in the truck and car.
Doesn't stink like Dino or smell like burning grease like B100, but more a blend of the two.
And nearly impossible to get the engine to smoke. Very clean burning.
It's the Safeway fuel station in Kenmore, WA.

Down here, we have soy BD, not corn. It kind of smells like burning plastic or something. It does smoke almost as much as dino, sort of a medium gray (and I'm talking about B100). It's a good compromise.

Friend of mine went to that Safeway and had problems with his filters afterwards. Hasn't been in there since. You had any filter issues?

Not one. But by then I had run up to around B70 and had changed the filter a half dozen times. Perhaps your friend didn't realize that it's common for bio-d to clean out the junk.
Izzy it's soy diesel up here too.
The emblem on the pumps is Soypower. http://www.regfuel.com/biodiesel.html

there ya go..

we had a bio refiner in the area... went **** up late last summer... and about the time that happened, my trucks' fuel economy took a major nosedive...

so there is something to it... whether it was a better base stock, or because they brewed 10,000 gallon batches rather than 10,000,000 gallon they could keep a better eye on product quality...frankly, I liked how the truck sounded quieter on B20 bio... and I would much prefer supporting American agri-business than Mid-East "give me your money" business...

guess I'm gonna have to get a bed tank and start running up to the refiner in Grant (60 miles away) and buying B50 or B99 and dealing with it from there...

When that test shows me the cost savings, I'll believe it. All they have shown is which one gives you more lubricity. They allude to the idea that more is better. Yet they won't define what this "better" is. Better for whom? If you get 5000 miles more out of it, it might be better for the manufacturer since you will be less likely to go for warranty work. If the savings by extra mileage is $5000 but you spend $10000 to achieve it, is it still a savings? What will it cost me vs what I will gain is an important thing. If the average motor lasts 50000 hrs but with whatever lubricity agent in it, it iasts 50500 hrs, do I care? As a manufacturer, yes. As an individual? Probably not.
