Were you told about a regen when you bought your truck?

Just curious to see who was told that the 2008 6.4l f250s would go through a regen and what exactly that was? I was not told and had no idea about any regen when I bought it.

Because I had attended several seminars by international about the new emmission standards in behalf of the private school I drive a school bus for. I was very knowledgeable about the new Motors, regeneration, etc..However..no..my dealer/ salesman never mentioned it' and when I mentioned it I got a blank stare.

It was mentioned, but they did not say it would be in regen 75% of the time, it was more like "it just does it once in a while when the filter is full"

I voted yes, that I was told about regen, but I wasn't told that the darn thing would regen while sitting at a stop sign and try to shove me out into traffic. The first time I took it to the dealer they said there wasn't a fix for it. I took it back after it happened again and they put in an updated download to correct it. It's still a back-a##-wards fix to a pollution problem. I'd have never bought an 08 if I knew all this up front.

The salesman never mentioned it directly, but I was given a DVD disk and advised to watch it when I got home with the truck. I learned about regeneration from the video which is essentially the owners maintenance manual on disk.

I'm not eligible to vote, but I have an opinion on this. One of the stations I fill up at sells B5 bio diesel, but it's mixed with LSD. I can't tell you how many 08 Superduty's, not to mention 07 dodges I've stopped and told they should not fill up there. After a brief discussion where everyone claims B5 is ok they finally look at the stickers on thier truck saying ULSD only, compare it to the LSD not for 07 or newer stickers on the pumps, say thanks and drive off. The Ford guys have never heard of a regen, and the dodge guys were told to just fill up anywhere. There was no difference between ULSD & LSD.

The 5% bio is fine as long as it's mixed with ULSD.

Same with me. I had more info on the truck when I came in that the sales person did. That's what sites like this are really good for. It helps you research before you buy.

When I took delivery of my 2008 F-350 6.4 diesel they gave me a 2006 owner's manual. I should have caught it earlier. Point. With my truck mfrd. October 2007 and with manual that came in mail is a great CD. If you listen to the CD you will understand at least what REGENERATION is. To me it sounds like something from my first marriage. I have no clue when it will happen. It just does it automatically. BUT, back on the ulsdf, if you have a 6.4 you better use the ulsdf (15 ppm sulfur maximum) as compared to the lsdf (500 ppm sulfur maximum).
If you don't believe, read your warranty or spend a couple hours and GOOGLE it, cause you will wake up, and best you do before you have a failure of either exhaust or engine.

I was not told about the regen, NOT DID THE TRUCK REGEN, for 7500 miles. Of course, it blew injectors at 2500 miles and 7000 miles. After injector #2 replaced, it decided to regen all the time and when it wasn't regening (sp?), it was idling at 1100 rpm all the time. By the way, Ford offered me $5000 to go away and not file lemon law and keep the truck. Here we go, round #3. The truck remains parked because of all its problems. So sad..... beautiful truck. I don't want a GMC or Dodge. I've gone back to my old 2000 model 7.3. What a great truck. Will wait until Ford gets its act together before I buy a new Ford again.
