Buying An Exscursion

Hello, i'm thinking of getting rid of my 97 f350 dually and getting a 1999-2002 4x4 x. do you think it would be wise? as, i love my truck, but dont really need a truck anymore. I will never buy another gasoline engine so, the powerstroke is the only option for the x. Are there any major probs with the x's that i should look for, and what would be a good price for the years i listed above...also what should i expect for mileage? i get about 13-17 with the 97 dually
Thanks, Skip

well skip you will get same mileage most likely with 7.3 As for what to look for get an oasis report. Trans is a big one and so are the hubs ( light duty on heavy truck ). Also ball joints stock are pretty crappy. No grease nips on them during those years. I have an 00 first year and one of the first in production and I love her to death. Goo dluck and welcome to the X world if you do decide to buy one.

i LOVE my X.. i have a 2002 7.3 PSD. it had 55k miles on it when i bought her, i paid 23k and i feel i stole it. I get about 13-16mpg around town, on the highway not towing, i get about 18-19mpg.

So, you've dropped by the Excursion forum so you can get our honest and TOTALLY UNBIASED opinion!!?? (-:

That being said, I absolutely love my 2000 Ltd. 4x4 with a 7.3 diesel. It's strong, capable and drives like a dream. I'd get another one like it in a heartbeat.

I cant speak for the mpg because i have the 10 cyl, but if u buy it get an oasis report first. If the ball koints are bad (which they do go bad alot on these trucks) spend the money and get moog greaseables. If u grease them alot, they will easily outlast the OEM ones
