You can't go wrong with a LuK (pronounced Luke). Give Carolina Clutch a call. They're a sponsor and will get you set up. You could also do some research on a SouthBend if you're into REALLY heavy towing.

Southbend & Luk are the 2 big names around here. Make sure to get the kevlar pilot bushing. You might also do some searching on which year(s) had the weak clutch fork. I think the 99's were one of them.

I'm guessing this is a diesel motor. You might try asking the same question in the 7.3 section here https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum31/

thanks guys, ive heard of the weak shift fork before. how can i tell? would i see the damage on mine?

ive used the luk clutches on my other truck and have been well pleased i just wasnt sure if they would hold up to the diesel. someone told me quite some time ago to only use ford stuff but you know how it is. lol! i needed a second opinion.

there is another brand ive seen on ebay, its kind of a strange name, but they advetise it as high performance up to 400 or 600 hp. but i dont know if that means it will go fast or that it CAN handle heavy towing. anybody familiar with them?

I think the fork was just weak on some models, so it will work right up to the point it bends. Do a search and if yours has the weak fork I'd suggest replacing it while the tranny's out.

I'm pretty sure it was 2000 and earlier models. My 2002 had the new fork already. The stock clutch is a Valeo and you should already have a solid flywheel. That being said, the LuK kit I bought came with a replacement flywheel and they work great in this diesel application!
