I may add that setup to my plow truck, upgrading to a dual battery setup to power everything at the same time.
It works fine with one battery now but the extra draw the electric fan would put on the system would be to much for one battery I would think.
I'd want to run the fan while I plow to keep the tranny fluid cool.
I may just put a smaller fan on the fluid coolers, sandwiching it between the two. I'll have to think on it some.

Anyway great job, thanks for sharing that with us!

Dan, everything in my ----------- is fair game for all you guys to use, that's why it's there. If you want to explore around my ----------- you can click my signature pic and it will take you there.

If you wanna do the swap just make sure you upgrade your alternator because it will be taking the bulk of the load from those fans. I've seen guys do a pusher on the trans cooler and taurus puller behind the radiator. In fact, I plan installing a pusher on my trans cooler eventually. If you need any help with the wiring just let me know, I've got an electrical circuits program that I use for testing my circuits before I install them. I'd rather blowup a little .gif image on my screen than blow up my truck

Chris - awesome job on the circuit setup & diagram; you did a better job than I could have, and saved me a *ton* of work!

What are the specs on your components (relays & temp switch), and where's the best place to get 'em? What are the best years of Taurus to scalp a fan from?

Taurus fan comes from anything with a 3.8L v6, that includes Thunderbirds and Lincoln Mark___ (I don't know the exact model).

The two smaller relays are 40amp Hella relays and the bigger one is a 75amp Bosch relay. If you want the model numbers just ask and I can get them. The temp switch was a tough find (for the one I wanted). I spent a very long time searching for a switch that is ONLY a switch and didn't over other wires and uses. It is literally a hot pin and a ground pin, and the switch closes when temp probe reaches a certain point. The part number on the temp switch I used is 3653 (can be found at Kragen or Auto Zone or similar store under that part number) and might be under the brand new Hayden OR Imperial (used to be Imperial then Hayden bought them out). It's VERY confusing... There's a similar switch which costs $30 more and does a lot of unnecessary stuff. Let me know if you need any more information.
