My 94 half ton (Short bed) and my 94 3/4 ton (Long Bed). Both held the same, When both tanks were on E, you can fit about 34 gallons total among the two tanks.

Isnt the size of the front tank dependent on if the truck is a 4x2 or 4x4 and if it is a long bed or short bed??

Isnt the reason that 4x4 short beds are all single tank because the transfercase doesnt allow the front tank?? But the earlier pre1990 or so 4x4 short bed had dual tanks-why?? And the post 1990 4x4 short bed cant??

My '93 owner's manual lists shortbed regular cabs as having a single tank. It's tough to speak authoritatively about the some 5 million trucks that Ford built in those 5 years...

Nice looking truck! I just love 4x4 shorties! Where is your side molding aft of the rear wheel openings?

But the 87 thru 89 or so 4x4 shortie could be equipped with factory dual tanks! The transfercase changed about 1989 or so and I think that this is the reason for the single 18.2 rear tanks for post '90 short cab/short box 4x4s. Just no room for a side tank and the new transfercase!

My body man, and I thought it would look better without it. It has different Reflexxion cowl hood, diseal bumper, and Lightning airdam/foglights. I have a farm truck that is a 88 F150 4x4 RCSB also, you are correct, it has 2 tanks, but only one working at the moment.

ROTFLMAO! The ONLY reason i would get a tank that big, is so i only have to fill it once every three months... or maybe if i pulled trailers for a living... I hate small tanks the put on trucks with big engines... I hate gas prices too!!!

Does the 19 gallon Side tank fit in a 4wd?

Hello folks. I am a new member to the Forums and this is my first post.

I just ordered a 19 gallon side tank to replace the rusted out tank in my '94 4wd. After removing and researching pics online of what looked like my tank It turns out the hopelessly rusted tank I took out of the truck was NOT a 19 gallon, but a 17 gallon instead. The new 19 gallon tank I ordered was delivered to my door this morning and is aprox. a foot longer than the old tank. I *Think* it will fit with a pair of new straps designed for the 19 gallon tank, BUT I am not sure. BEFORE I go trying to install this shiny new tank, can anybody out there tell me if a 19 Gallon side tank fits in a 94 4wd(full size)? ...or should I just return it and get the smaller one?

any feedback or advice is welcome.

Thanks

I have never seen that configuration neither. The gas door is in front of the rear axle-but none behind the rear axle?? Could we see a side left picture of your truck??
