Block heater cord

I second the marinco plug , if you can salvage your factory cord. I melted mine, I think I plugged it in when the cord end was icy and didn't notice it. I replaced it with the marinco and I am very happy. Use some liquid electric tape and it will seal it from the elements really well. I couldn't figure out how to post with a quote from another thread so I will copy and give credit to the original poster, Pocket.

The block heater works perfectly fine on a 15A circuit. That's what I have at my home. And also I have it plugged into a GFCI outlet as well.
Your best bet is the plug at the end of the block heater cord. That is the first to go. Chop it off and get a Marinco outlet from Bass Pro Shops or any other marine or boating store.

Thanks guys, I finally found the short in the wire, it was driving me crazy I had the 14.4 ohms on the block heater like they said I should but I was also getting a good 122 volts cming out of the wires. I finally took it off brought in the shop to check it with the OHM meter sure enough one time it would read okay then I moved the wire and no power. Did like you guys said and bought a marineco outlet, what a great idea. Thanks for all the help!
