Please Help!- Spindle Bearing Installation

I have found the source of the grinding in my front end. The passenger side spindle bearing was completely gone. I tried to get a new one in there and it would only go so far. I ended up destroying the bearing trying to get it in. How far does the bearing have to go in to to the actual spindle? The seal that it came with looks as if it sits down into the hole somewhat.
See pic. Does the bearing go all the way down to the bottom grove/built in race? Thanks

from the loks of your pic. the bearing race is still in the spindle, you will need to get it out before you try putting the new one in
