Suggest to follow the vacuum line from the EGR valve. I have an '89 5.0L, the solenoid is on top of the intake manifold, driver side, towards the rear, near the ignition coil.

Had an occurence where a dinky foam air filter inside this solenoid plugged up, causing EGR fault codes. I unintentionally destroyed it trying to fix it, was about $30 at the Ford dealer. Don't have the part number.

On my '92 It's on top of the driver's side valve cover, mounted in a bracket with some other vac solenoids. Mine have color-coded hard vac lines, so they're easy to trace out. My EGR uses a green line, the FPR uses red, etc etc
There is an air filter inside of it. My Bronco has never clogged one, but my Ranger did all the time.
I'm guessing your vac hose routing sticker is gone. If it's still there, it'll probably be labeled something like "EVPR" or "EVPS" or whatever.

The Ford basic part number for the EGR vacuum solenoid is 9D474..(there's no filter inside it).

Your 1988 Bronco 5.0 doesn't have an EGR Vacuum Solenoid.

There are no parts lists for emission related parts after 1979.

Everything emissions related must be looked up by the Calibration Code, or by the Ford ID number found on the part.

1988 Bronco 5.0's have 11 different Calibration Codes.

The reason?

With 4 speed manual (#656), with 5 speed manual (2 codes listed-#631 & 661), with C6 (#602), with AOD (#608), with a C6 hi altitude system (#607), with a AOD hi-altitude system (#601). The other 4 codes pertain to Bronco's sold new in CA. Since you are in Georgia, I doubt your Bronco was sold new in California. But it doesn't matter anyway...because...

Not one of the Calibration Codes lists an EGR Vacuum Solenoid.

What IS listed is the: Thermactor (smog pump) Emission Air Control Vacuum Solenoid Valve. There is a filter inside this part.

There are two different ones.

E7TZ-9H465-A = marked: E7TE-9H465-AA

E7TZ-9H465-B = marked: E7TE-9H465-AB

Note to the usual naysayers: Other Bronco's from other years and with other engines may have the EGR vacuum solenoid, but I didn't bother looking. It was time consuming enough (31 minutes) looking up the codes, then searching thru them just for this 1988 Bronco 5.0. If the OP had listed the C/C, it would have taken less than 5 minutes to discover what I typed above.
