Hey Bruce, thanks for the post! Been smoke free for almost SIX years now. My inspiration was my grandson Connor who BTW will be six this year. His little brother Carson is like my reinforcement.
I look at those two boys and forget all about the urge to smoke. Yes, even after almost six years the urge is there especially when a few beers are to be consumed.
We are working with(helping) several of our members, WHO WANT TO QUIT, and just need a little support to kick that nasty, disgusting, and now expensive habit.
Something that is really ironic with me now, is I can tell when someone smokes. It really does permeate your clothes like everyone use to tell me.

Hey George, I am 62 days without smoking. I still have to decide NOT TO SMOKE once or twice every waking hour. How long till smoking quits me? I'm still having a hard time with this.

It's been about 8 months for me. I went cold turkey and I still want to smoke. Especially when I read this thread. Good luck guys!
ps- I tried the patch- stuck it to my zipper and got down to 2 butts a day

I'm on day 2 with the patch.
Only had about 5 or 6 yesterday compared to the 40 I usually have, so that's a start.

Phil that is really great news. You can do it!
Barry is doing a great job and has really stuck with his program.
In a couple of weeks you will start to get back your taste buds. The nagging cough starts to disappear.
And not long after that you sense of smell returns. In fact, the stale smell of cig smoke will be obvious to you when you walk into a room of smokers. You will smell it on their clothes.
Best of all the roses smell like roses again! Keep up the good work, both of you guys. When the urge hits, give me a call and we will talk it out.

Hey Phil, way to go. I'm two and a half months smokless, using the patch.
At first I had to recommit to not smoking about every twenty minutes but now it's like two or three times a day. Got a lot of practice now, shrugging off the urge so it is getting easier. Not as quickly as I had thought, but easier.
If you are still smoking some, add an hour or two between intervals and think of the money you are saving.
