Hey George, I just came in through 'new posts' and found this thread. Coincidentally, I quit smoking a couple of months ago... and I'm still struggling with it every day. Feels like I have ants crawling through my veins. I'm using pills, (welbutrin,) patches and gum (which I hate,) in a pinch. This is no freaking fun. The only reason I'm not smoking is because I don't want to have to start this process all over again and I'm not ready to die.
I was addicted at age 12 and smoked cigs for fifty years. I believe that the longer you smoke the more difficult it is to quit, so do it now. It will be harder the longer you wait.
Benefits: my sinuses are clear and my breathing in much better. I am not obsessed with making sure that I have smokes on hand at all times. (No more midnight trips to the 7/11.) Saving money! Don't have to worry about offending all the non-smokers when I need to light up. Better concentration because I don't have to take a break for a smoke. Don't start feeling defensive when some anti-smoking propaganda pops up.
I'm sure I will notice other benefits when I get further along with this process, but right now it's like a full time job, not smoking. And yeah, I'm a little testy!!!
