Transmission - Transfer case?
I own a 89 Bronco 5.0 Ltr W/AOD, it has been sitting for about a year, everything ran great before I parked it to do some upgrades. I put a 3" body lift on it and was fabbing the usual things shifter linkage, radiator shroud, transfer case shifter, ect. While I was getting the transfer case shifter handle loose I know it shifted out of neuteral a couple of times but thought nothing of it. I got everything done and went to go test drive it and when I shifted the transmission into gear it made a funny sound, but would not move, I tried to put it reverse and the same thing. I shut down the motor and went under the bronco and the drive shaft just spun around freely and it was in park at the time. I got back in the bronco and started messing around with the transfer case shifter and I heard something, so I went back under and the drive shaft would not turn it was in park, so far so good. I then started the bronco and put in gear, everything shifted fine. I then went on a test drive taking it easy I started down the road an about two hundred feet down the road it started making a rumbling noise, I turn around and before I could get back to the house there was a clunk noise and I didn't have any gears again, nothing not even park once again. Any suggestions would be great.
