Transmission - Transfer case?

[QUOTE]

I own a 89 Bronco 5.0 Ltr W/AOD, it has been sitting for about a year, everything ran great before I parked it to do some upgrades. I put a 3" body lift on it and was fabbing the usual things shifter linkage, radiator shroud, transfer case shifter, ect. While I was getting the transfer case shifter handle loose I know it shifted out of neuteral a couple of times but thought nothing of it. I got everything done and went to go test drive it and when I shifted the transmission into gear it made a funny sound, but would not move, I tried to put it reverse and the same thing. I shut down the motor and went under the bronco and the drive shaft just spun around freely and it was in park at the time. I got back in the bronco and started messing around with the transfer case shifter and I heard something, so I went back under and the drive shaft would not turn it was in park, so far so good. I then started the bronco and put in gear, everything shifted fine. I then went on a test drive taking it easy I started down the road an about two hundred feet down the road it started making a rumbling noise, I turn around and before I could get back to the house there was a clunk noise and I didn't have any gears again, nothing not even park once again. Any suggestions would be great.

so since installing the body lift did you clearance the hole around the tcase shifter or did you extend the shifter?

I heated and bent it. I was wondering if there is something wrong with the transfer case will the transmission still operate the same?

the tranny shifter linkage needs extended and more then likely you need to clearance the floor around the tcase shifter. also inspect your motor/tranny mounts if one or all is bad it could be causing things to move to much and cause the shifter to contact something causing it to pop out
