I am looking at a 2004 F150 fx4. The dealer let me drive it for the weekend, and it is an incredible truck, especially compared to my 98 Chevy K1500 I am trading in. Anyways, I noticed that there is a really quick shudder/vibration felt when the transmission shifts from 1st to 2nd, but it does not occur at any other shifts or while cruising. I am going to bring this up to the dealership tonight, but I don't want them to tell me it's nothing, then end up purchasing the truck and something major happens. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

 

Ask the dealer if the PCM has been reflashed for 2004 TSB for driveability problems.

 

I would look elsewhere.

The reflash calibrates the transmisson shifts with the drive by wire.
