Hello. On my '96 XLT I have been receiving through my air bag idiot light the code "4-2." The dealership told me something might be wrong with the air bag system. I sighed and hung up. A body shop told me that the left side air bag sensor was bad and need replaced.
$80 and an air bag sensor later, I still have my code. So I hooked it up to the right side...still had the code.
SRS fuse is still good, pulled it, received code "1-2."
Anyone have any ideas on what is wrong and how to fix it?
Check your horn & cruise control operation . If they fail to work then its likely the airbag clockspring ( The clockspring is the electrical connection for the airbag , cruise & horn ) They seem to fail after a few yrs of operation .
