Glow Plugs ??? 35 degrees

Pacific N.W. diesel owners.. ( and anyone with answers )

Hay guy's maybe you can help....I have a 2000 F-250 w/97,000 miles ...... I have had problems in the morning's when it's around 35-36 degrees and below....truck cranks over but no start....I replaced the CPS a couple months back ,and replaced bolth batteries a month ago thinking that was part of my problem , I guess not cause it still won't start without either pluging it in or haveing to let the plugs warm up 5-6 times before finally turning over .

Do I need to replace my glow plugs.........?????? ........is this something I can do myself easaly ??????...... any and all info helps...... THX guy's ....... A.

Hello neighbor.
90% chance your glow plug relay is fried. No way that all eight are burned out.
It's the one that is mounted rear most of the two relays on top of the engine.

I am thinking that your relay that triggers the glow plugs may not be working correctly. Next time this happens- Find the rearmost of the two relays, sitting on top of the passenger side of the engine valley, in front of the compressor manifold. Use an insulated screwdriver to short the two large lugs on the relay together. You'll know you got the right one, because on one side of the large lugs, a ring terminal will split into two wires, one yellow, one brown. That goes to the injectors themselves. Do this for 20 seconds with the key in the on position, and see how she starts.

I would change the GPR now!! It might let you sit somewhere other than home where you can't plug it in!!!!!!!!! Plus its Winter!! Not much $$ I got mine from NAPA.. Let them look at the old one on your truck, so they get the right one!!
