brand new your truck will get the worst mileage...

109,000 miles, extended cab, short bed, stock weight (no additions except for running boards), torque shift, 6.0l. I average around 18.5 on the interstate with a not so light foot.

 

i am a true fan of the bully-dog, they have a deal out now that you can try it be for you buy it. no one else does that.

 

yeah, but im not a fan of blowing my turbo however...

 

Yeah, sometimes I wonder about the reported milage figures too.

03 6.0 King Ranch Crew, 4x4, 6'bed, 3.73s...totally stock....Trip from WV to NH (lots of mountains) dragging a trailer both ways, got me 15.0 mpg. Trip from WV to TX (not lots of mountains) dragging a trailer both ways got me 15.0 mpg. I'm a big beliver in getting there in a hurry so I don't spare the skinny pedal. On the interstates I avg 75 to 80 most of the time (hauling those trailers).

My 6.0 has 57K on it right now....I use Motorcraft oil changed every 5K, I don't have a choice...it's ULSD with DK PowerService at each fillup.

Just as an FYI...my 92 F150 w/351 gets 10 mpg on it's best day....so I'm happy with the 15 mpg. If you're really wrapped up about the milage....go get a Prius so we can laugh at you too. LMAO!!!!

Good point! I noticed this recently, so I fill the truck up till I can actually see it in the neck of the tank. It may sound (and look retarded) but filling up to exactly the same point has to be the best way, I know I'm super close because my mileage variation is down a little, (sitting between 11-12) I think my milage went up a litttle because it's been warm here the last couple of days.

 

wildtide the bully dog will corrupt your factory flash and it can not be recovered. the vehicle will have to be taken to the dealer to be reflashed.

I have 36K miles on a January 04 2WD. Stock 85 series tires with #65 pressure. I record every tank and check milage each time. I have used Stanadyne in over 95% of the fillups. DK the other times. Stock except for Gibson Extreme Duals. Fill the tank until I see the fuel. It has a tonneau cover.

In town empty 15.5 to 15.7 consistantly with Syn oil. 15.2 with Dino. 11.9 to 12.3 towing an enclosed 20' car trailer right at #7000 driving 65-70 mph. Same trip twice a year with the same results.

Vacations empty 70-75 miles mph 19.5 to 20.2, 3000 mile trips. 3 of them (wife won't ride in our in own small cars on vacation). I have not gone on one yet with Syn oil.

I don't drive it like I stole it but not that conservative either. I kick it in the butt every outting. I've seen 30 psi on the turbo and 1250 on the exhaust with my monitor. It has all its original engine parts except for a lower radiator hose. It has a radiator water filter...Good Luck

 

i need some real world mileage on e350 cargo vans 2006 and up 6.0 diesel.any help would be so helpfull. i cant stand my 5.4 mileage 11/12 and way less towing, so id like to get a 6.0 van and i hoped to get 15/20 empty?
but when you do the math the return on your investment takes too long and diesel emmisions are killing mileage.funny that the chevy 1500 with the afm 4 valves closing is getting 15 21.i hate the sloppy front ends on the e series and the crappy 3/36000 warranty but the cargo vans are so much better to work out of. a pick up is a total pain in the *** and im forced to pull a small trailer. i tow occaisionally and do side jobs once in a while. mostly a winter vehicle .lastly can you plow with a 1500 series or is only 2500 and up with 4 wheel drive? if i do go the pickup route, id like to get some plow contracts.

Can anyone tell me how much my milage will be effected by a change in tire size from 265/75/R16 to 285/75/R16? Sorry, don't have any real good milage calculations to add to this, but may be taking a long road trip at end of month, and if so I will watch my milage meticulously and report back ... frankly, I am dying to know myself. LOL,,I just roughly checked my mileage,,with only working 1-miles from my home,,,back and forth,,,Hills both ways,,,,when It came up with 8.2 mpg,,,,,I kinda,,, ohh man,,,not worth checking,,,,But the best I ever did calculate was 17.5 mpg,,,that was one tankful,,,of Shell Diesel fuel!!,,,so How come only that one tank full???

I was working the same job like 2 months,,,45 miles one way,,,filled up several times,,at the same station,,,all other tanks were 15.5 to 16,,,was it a Higher Cetane rating that one tankful??

I am also not easy on the skinny pedal,,,,and Just drive it !

 

The way I do it is by using the highway mileage marker....I guess you're looking at 4-6%...

 

Change is about 3.75% (265 vs 285 75 16")

Or, @75 mph speedo, actual speed is 77.8 mph
