Big truck 5 speed in F-250

I have a 86 F250 with a C6 and 460.I was wondering if a swap from an 85 F700 with a 5 speed and 370 4v fit. Is the cab similar enough for the big trans to clear? Flywheel? will it work on the 460?

flywheel wont work, but tranny will bolt up. reason the flywheel wont work is the ft cranks have a bigger output shaft. you could have an adapter machined but i wouldnt bother, id just get a new flywheel for your engine.

The trans will fit , the flywheel won't. You need to take the 5 speed flywheel and have it balanced to 0 .The 370 is externally balanced. Buying another flywheel is not an option they are not made and the one for a 460 won't work its got the wrong bolt holes for the pressure plate. The rear crank flanges are the same but pilot diameter is not. So the pilot bearing would not fit without some machine work to the crank.

actually any 385 series after 1979 is external balance, so being his truck is a 1985 he wouldnt have to have it 0-balanced, itd be the right balance from the factory.
