If you want to try and make your on processor they tell you how to do it in this site www.biodieselcommunity.org. You can make your own for a couple of hundred bucks.

well, what i see for the price to buy a system is a year and a bit's worth of fuel so it could pay itself off. i like other "couple of hundred dollars" one a lot better!!

Lots of 'personal experience' info with people making and running biodiesel right on the FTE site - check out the
Bio-diesel, Propane and Alternative Diesel Engine Fuels forum on the Diesel list

Naturally a lot of this is in the states where it is warmer etc - but just like FTE in general you get a lot of different people in diferent areas sharing experiences, prolems and solutions.

The site Colin posted is about the best homebrew site going. Everything you need is right there. The appleseed processor is the one I built.

In cold weather the oil will jell and not flow thru the fuel filters so a lighter grade or anti-jell additive is required.

Actually, there are no additivesw that will work for 100% biodiesel. Blending (with pump diesel)is the prefferred method. I will (eventually) be putting a heating coil (engine coolant) in my slip tank and running the lines along the fuel lines into th e engine bay. Other guys have done it, I just haven't got around to it.

A friend of mine runs his farm chore tractor in the winter on summer diesel by keeping it in a warm shop.
No problem with the short exposure time to the cold doing the chores.
He likes using summer grade diesel because he gets more power and the tractor runs longer on the same amount of fuel compared to winter grade.

Summer grade will jell if it has time but he`s done chores before that can happen.
It would be bad if he had a break down or got stuck through.
