Lots of 'personal experience' info with people making and running biodiesel right on the FTE site - check out the
Bio-diesel, Propane and Alternative Diesel Engine Fuels forum on the Diesel list
Naturally a lot of this is in the states where it is warmer etc - but just like FTE in general you get a lot of different people in diferent areas sharing experiences, prolems and solutions.

Actually, there are no additivesw that will work for 100% biodiesel. Blending (with pump diesel)is the prefferred method. I will (eventually) be putting a heating coil (engine coolant) in my slip tank and running the lines along the fuel lines into th e engine bay. Other guys have done it, I just haven't got around to it.

A friend of mine runs his farm chore tractor in the winter on summer diesel by keeping it in a warm shop.
No problem with the short exposure time to the cold doing the chores.
He likes using summer grade diesel because he gets more power and the tractor runs longer on the same amount of fuel compared to winter grade.
