WHO WANTS A 300 SIX CHEAP???

I am pulling the 300 out of my 85 F-150 and need it gone. The motor is actually a 1984 HD with 260,000 miles. It runs very strong, but pukes a quart of oil every 10 miles. It has "un-cracked" intake and exhaust manifolds(no O2 bung), a new YF1A carb, new distributor (TFI-IV), new fuel pump, new 8MM Autolite wires and Autolite Platinum plugs and lots of extra parts with it. I am in western Oregon and can deliver to a point. E-mail me at seej@nu-world.com or call me any time at (541)954-2232.

WHO WANTS A 300 SIX CHEAP???

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 13-Nov-01 AT 11:54 PM (EST)]I have been told that beside the #'s a quick check is that the camshaft gear is made of steel (not phenolic or aluminum) and the cam gear is bolted to the cam shaft, not pressed on. (assuming it is an original) One other thing in 1979-80 (book is an '80 so this code like the light duty 300 engine code "B" may go on for several years) the HD 300 in 6 in a "light Truck" was engine code "K" Heavy truck engine code "G" Herman

WHO WANTS A 300 SIX CHEAP???

I have done some checking and my motor is supposedly the heavy PU engine and not the industrial motor. I have no idea what the difference between those two is. The motor has all steel timing gears, I know that for a fact from replacing the water pump a few months ago(first time it was ever off). Oh yea it's got a new water pump I forgot to add that the other pump ended up being fine too so it goes with as well. As to price I was thinking $300 if somebody came and got it or $300 plus diesel if I transported. I would be willing to transport from Seattle to Redding/Sacremento and as far east as Boise or Ogden/Salt Lake. As soon as it comes out of the truck tomarrow or Thursday I will post the numbers. Again this motor has 260,000 miles on it and spews oil, but runs strong. For what it's worth who ever wants it can have the EEC too.

WHO WANTS A 300 SIX CHEAP???

if everything is still good it sounds like a good start for my project. Keep me in mind.

For all the others out there, can I get like this engine and still add the Forged crank, rods, and pistons?

If its an 84 and has no O2 bung (and is the original exhaust) and also doesn't have EGR it should be a HD. The sticker from the original truck must also have the non-emissions sticker in it.

It doesn't have an O2 bung, I had to add one on the exhaust headpipe for my EEC, It does have EGR, but only because it's the intake off the original 85 motor, I had to keep it to retain the YF1A carb when I replaced the first motor.

So more than likely it is a HD or what? Either way it will be a good start to my project engine.

It sounds like you found you engine Kameleon. You'll have to have it freighted to Mississippi though. Herman
