285/70/R17 on My 2000 F150 Lariat
<TABLE><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=top width="100%">I have a stock 2000 F150 and am planning on putting 285/70/R17 tires on my truck that came with 265/70/R17 tires. I am not putting a lift on the front end and will probably only make minor modifications to my fenders (ie. sawsaw 1/2" off the plastic pieces underneath.
Has anybody put 285s on a stock F150?

Yes and they will not rub anywhere, assuming this is a 4wd. Just be ready for the sway bar end links to snap in half at some point. I lost 3 of them while I had those size tires on and never any with any other size. My brakes also wore out a lot faster with them on. They look great but are a bit hard on the front end.

Yup...285's fit with no problem. I've had 34's on my stock truck with no rubbing either.
The sway-bar links...after one of mine broke, I just took it off. There's no need for it. The truck doesn't "roll" more without it than it did with it...never changed the handling at all. Plus, you'll get a little better flex while offroad, and a smoother ride over the rough stuff.
