Freshly installed reman injectors, fresh oil in the pan and HPOP reservoir as of early this week, live in an area that rarely sees temperatures at or below 35*... and for the first time in 1.5 years I experienced the romp this morning.
What weight is that "fresh oil in pan".

Just like caverjoe my romps went away after switching to 5w-40 synthetic.

No romps even in the high teens and low twenties, but at these temps I let the GPs heat for 30 to 40 seconds.

The weight is the same 15-40 I've been running for the last 1.5 years. The winters in GA get colder than they do here on the CA coast, and I had never experienced the romp until I installed a tuner this week. I'm going to try starting tomorrow morning without the chip, just to see. I understand the general rule is that 5-40 "fixes" the issue, but that will have to wait until the next oil change. I hadn't expected any change to the way she ran before, and I may hold full judgement until after I put 150-ish miles on the new injectors.

Like Robin I try to let the glow plugs go for awhile longer , usually try to let em go till the fuel pump kicks off at least. I ran 15 40 for more than 10 years. Romp only started the last few years.

I use the fuel pump as a timer myself. I'll watch my fuel pressure gauge and when the pressure drops I know that is 20 seconds. If it real cold, teens or twenties. I recylce the key and then start when the pump stops for a second time, or 40 seconds.

no romps out of motorbug since my last no start (and not starter related) situation where i ended up removing and tearing apart-cleaning and then just reinstalling my ipr. cleared up the no start and cold start romps. 15-40 delvac 1300+ dino. next oil change will be switching to royal purple full synthetic and see what happens.

last three trucks that i have worked on were mostly due to romps.
solutions for each were...

cps
icp
rotation velocity sensor connector? on tranny - unplugged it and plugged back in and no more romps.

Are you talking about the TSS (Turbine Speed Sensor) or OSS (Output Shaft Speed Sensor).

Robin,
im really not sure which one because the owner of that truck was the one that disconnected and hooked back up but i wanna say the vss up front on the tranny. output shaft sensor should only be seeing signal if the tranny is in a moving gear right?

Just wanted to be sure you were talking about a tranny sensor because I can't figure out how that would involve "the romps". But heah, weird chit happens.

By the way, the VSS is at the rear diff.

yah the tss... lol
still memorizing all my acronyms gimme a break lol.

that one was on a 97 f250. it also had a ivs issue and tps issue. would not respond until tps reached the point of 1300 rpm in neutral. same in gear. releasing throttle from the 1300rpm position even slightly and it would drop to idle.

I hate starting new threads... but wanted to throw another bit of weirdness into the mix here. I haven't been getting any romps on cold start (around 35-40* mornings), but after partial warm-up (a 5-7 min drive from work, or to the store) I sometimes get 2-3 romps and it clears up. So... cold startups don't appear to be giving me romps. For kicks and giggles I might just unplug/plug in the TSS. The next time I crawl under the truck anyway.
