Plans for non- appleseed reactor?

Greetings,

there are lots of plans out there for appleseed style reactors, but I hear several people are using mechanical mixing instead of pumps, and not using water washing, but using a drying agent. (can't remember the name, senior moment... used in diapers) supposedly higher quality Biodiesel is obtained. Any ideas where I can find plans?

thanks

The easiest way is to get a 55 gallon drum, weld a galvanized pipe fitting in the bottom, screw in a pvc valve, then you can buy or build a 55 gallon drum mixer. I built mine out of an old greenhouse fan. I took the fan, cut the actual fan off, extened the shaft, cut the fan blades down to about 6 inch diameter, and set the whole deal over in a drum, instant biodiesel reactor. Total cost, less than $50 in the whole deal.

The dry method is called magnesol. You will need to use 2 percent by weight unless you evap the methanol and then your down to 1 percent per weight. You will need to pump the bio off the top in order to leave the heavy moisture ladden magnesol on the bottom and dump out later.
