Schaeffer 9000 5W40: Blackstone UAO Report
I just got my Blackstone report on my first use of Schaeffer 9000 5W-40 synthetic oil (after 5088 miles on oil). It held the viscosity amazingly well.

From Blackstone:
"Here is the interesting thing. We run a lot of oils on the 6.0L Power Stroke engine and invariably, the oil's viscosity will read low due to VI additive hearing. On the rare occasion we see Schaeffer's oil in use, the viscosity will often read normally. We know of no other oil that will hold up as well in this type of engine. Note the Molybdenum, showing this to be the first use of this oil. Your viscosity is up about 5.0 SUS seconds and reads in the SAE 40W range when checked @ 210 'F. The first four oils were SAE 30W's. Nice improvement. Wear is till OK at 19,811 miles."

Sorry about the picture quality in the first post!
I buy the Schaeffer 9000 5W40 oil along w/ Schaeffer 700 15W40 "synthetic blend" for my son's 7.3L truck. By doing this, I order in bulk ($300 per order). This gets free shipping. No tax. This will last me bewteen 3-4 changes on each vehicle (about a year).

I realize it is higher priced than dino oils, but the 72 viscosity number after 5088 miles will keep me with this oil. BITOG forum had stated that this oil would do well, but I am certainly surprised that it did as well as it did.

I do not run a bypass filter. I have considered it for awhile and it is still on the list. Several other things ahead of it (DashDaq and return regulated fuel system to name a few).
I will stick to 5000 mile OCI. I know that some would say that it is a waste of $$'s, but I am conservative. I also have not run my truck very hard at all. I have only towed 7000 lb loads 3 times. This oil analysis included mostly highway miles w/ no towing. I am very interested in the results after working it hard and getting things a little hotter.

All other oil changes (apprx: 1000, 3000, 6000, 9000, 12000, 15000) have been w/ Motorcraft 15W-40 which contains no Moly. A virgin analysis of the Schaeffer that I found confirms the same general range of Moly as my oil analysis.
I wanted to wait for the engine to "break in" before going to synthetic, so this is my first use of Schaeffer 9000. As much as I am excited about it, it is just one data point - even though the general consensus I have read elsewhere is that this oil does very well in retaining viscosity.

On the web site, there is a "Purchasing and Contact" button. By clicking on it, you have a form that you can fill out and they will contact you (I requested the pricing info inititially this way).
http://specializedlubricants.net/purchasing_contact.html
You can also email the sales rep at the address below:
msmith@specializedlubricants.net
It is available elsewhere, but at higher pricing.
