abs light, flashing od light, no turn signals, no speedo

Went to the local store to pick up some jack, get back out, fired the truck up to come home and when I leave the parking lot the abs light comes on. I am like what the... next the od light starts flashing and the speedo isnt working. Then I go to take a left turn and the turnsignals do not work. I get home and turn the truck off, start it back up and no abs light or flashing od light and turn signals work. Didnt drive it again to see if the speedo was working. Confused?? is this a short somewhere or is some sensor going out?

The only way to know what happened is to read the codes that were stored when the lights were on. There is a code stored when the OD light flashed, and there is another code stored in the ABS module for when that light was on. They should stay in memory for about a month after the last time the lights were on.

SVT 03, have you gone back out and started your truck back up after this has happened? I have had this happen as well as a friend on his Exc. Turned it back off and started it back up and it was fine. Have not had the problem since. I was told from the guy rebuilding my tranny that it happens when a message is not recived to a sensor at the tranny. It only happen once to me. Hope it is the same for you .Alan

I had intermitted flashing OD light and no speedo last year and it turned out to be the VSS sensor on top of the rearend.. If I stopped the engine and restarted it would fix it for awhile.. I purchase a VSS sensor from Napa p/n 530780 (they call it ABS sensor) for $10.47.. see www.napaonline.com . It has worked great with new napa sensor..

Ok, I just drove around town for a while and no abs, no flashing od light, speedo is working and the signals are working again. Maybe it was just a misscommunication with the computer. If it does it again I will go get that sensor from napa. Thanks for the help.

I also read afew posts awhile back that you might need to change out the rear-end fluid.. I guess the small metal flakes that sometimes occurs in the fluid messses up the sensor.. If the fluid never been changed, might be a good time to do it..
