A ford certified diesel tech told me that regen temps can get up to 1100* F, so the header paint would work but if the BBQ paint only holds up to 300-400 degrees it wouldn't work.

The 300-400 degrees is at the tail pipe. I checked mine with a temp gun. The 1100 degrees is probably at the dpf.

i sanded with 150 grit emory paper to get some burrs off, then 1000 grit wetsand, then a red scotchbrite pad. then used some high temp primer, then the high temp header paint. just followed directions on the can, then waited 3 days before heating up the tips. let the truck run for 15 min, then shut it off until the pipes cooled down all the way. did that a few times, then took it for a few short drives to heat up the pipes a little more, allowing time for the pipes to cool between drives.

Really nice looking pipes. Maybe someone at Ford will read this and say "Hmmmm, maybe we could do this". Then again, probably not. Cost would be a big factor for them NOT doing it. LOL
