I'm gonna use the 55 gallon drum idea for my cut off saw!

No more mess.

I`d like to use that idea but I have mine set up on a hospital bed table that goes up and down so I can rest the longer steel pieces on a nearby bench for additional support.
Other wise this would work real well to keep the hot sparks off my wall.

I expect a 12 ft ceiling is the minimum for a double deck storage.
On the farm I just go with another building, building spaces aren`t a problem.

you're probably needing a metal lathe though are you Fom?? i wouldn't really have use for one of them. my great g-pa has one in his basement, but aside from a crane and a semi, it'll likely stay there for quite a while. there are a few big tool i want to get but mostly woodwork/cabinet making ones...

My uncle is one of those fellas that will most likely never retire. The good thing is, I am his only nephew/neice interested in the different types of things he does, and tools he uses and such, so I can get alot of things from him, a lathe might be one of them yet.

I wouldn`t have alot of use for a lathe but at times it would come in handy just like the plasma cutter.

true enough. the problem with a machine lathe is not knowing how or what to do with it, and its a bit much for my work...

A lathe would be very handy, once in a while! The one bad thing about them, is they take up alot of space.
