What mods wont void my warranty?

anyone have a clear cut option of what mods and aftermarket devices wont viod the factory warranty?

I am sure things like a cold air induction and exhaust wont, but what are the others?

or do I need to bribe a service manager at my local dealership?

The way things are now, just about any mod could void the warranty. This includes CAI and exhaust...

Here is a TSB put out by Ford that will give you a idea where Ford stands on mods and warranty.

2008 F-SUPER DUTY - 6.4L -
SOME 2008 6.4L DIESEL VEHICLES MAY SET DTC 0401,P0402,P2002,P24 4A OR HAVE A DAMAGED DPF/DOC (BLACK SOOT IN TAIL PIPE, BLACK OR WHITE SMOKE) RESULTING FROM AFTERMARKET MODIFICATIONS. BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH NORMAL DIAGNOSTICS, INSPECT THE VEHICLE FOR NON-APPROVED AFTERMARKET AIR INDUCTION SYSTEMS, LARGER EXHAUST SYSTEMS ELIMINATING THE DPF/DOC, AND/OR PERFORMANCE ENHANCING CHIPS. THE USE OF NON APPROVED AFTERMARKET AIR INDUCTION SYSTEMS CAN ALSO CONTAMINATE THE MAF SENSOR, AND CAUSE INACCURATE EGR OPERATION AND FALSE DIAGNOSTICS CODES. REPLACEMENT OF FACTORY COMPONENTS WILL NOT RESOLVE THESE CONCERNS, AND SHOULD NOT BE ATTEMPTED OR COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. PLEASE REFER TO THE WARRANTY AND POLICY MANUAL, SECTION 3, FOR WARRANTY IMPLICATIONS OF REPAIRS RELATED TO VEHICLE MODIFICATIONS.

Way it looks putting ANYTHING on your truck that doesn't say Ford on it will void your warrenty. Screw Ford. I'll never buy another new one.

Goto your dealer where you service your truck and have them bless anything you want to add to in advance.

This is probably the best policy for those who want to mod and want to keep the warranty. The only problem is if you travel with the truck. Your dealer may say yes, but the dealer 1,000 miles from home could say no.

exactly, i race full time all over the country and am positive I will have to stop in some backwayer town in BFE to get some work done at some time, especially when i tow a 40 foot toyhauler full time.

Yes I agree. My dealer is mod friendly on the 6.0 and installed the Quadzilla chips. He has been leery on the 6.4 as it is harder to clear the computer of the chips info??. While I am not into mods I would be afraid of being out of town and needing repairs.

Basically on the 6.4 you can't do much with exhaust or intake or anything in between without an aftermarket tuner, once you go that route you definately risk denials of powertrain warranty claims by Ford Motor Co.
Now if your dealer wants to cover it himself to keep you happy..........ok....but beware because as they say, its all fun and games till someone gets hurt.

I just happened to change my oil today after posting to this thread. Open your hood and on the passenger side on top of the radiator support there is a wonderful notice about your question. I really did laugh when I read it again for the fifth or sixth time. Ford really won't let us have fun anymore.

Most dealers won't mess with your warranty

I work on these monsters every day I won't void any ones warranty. If you spend 35,000-40,000 on a rig you deserve to do what ever you want to it
But there are some jerks out there. And if your service dept ever wants to get ford engineer involved get your modified vehicle out of there.

It never hurts to ask up front before you bring in your vehicle and be honest about modifications helps me do my job

I had a dealer like you on my 2004 6.0 liter right up until I needed warranty work done. I won't modify this one even with a dealers word.
