Tuners - How to verify 'Stock'
Looking at adding a DP-Tuner to my truck. Previous owner had used a superchips 80 hp tune. He told me that the truck was currently stock however. I'm sure I don't want to add any tuner to it if it is currently not in a 'stock' condition.
What is the best way to verify it is 'stock'. Also, since it is a 2001 model, should I have the stealership put in the latest 'sock' program before adding a programmer/chip.
THANKS!

If he took the SC tuner with him, the truck had to be returned to stock for him to be able to either sell the tuner or use it on another truck. It can only be used on one truck at a time. It does this by storing a vehicle code in the tuner when it writes the tune to the computer. If nothing else, go test drive a truck similar to yours and see if the power feels the same. Trust me, you'd feel a definite difference in a truck with a tune on it.
I wouldn't worry about having the dealer update the computer. Jody's "stock" program will be fine.
