Getting started, need advice and help.
This is my first post in this forums, so first off, let me say greetings...........
I am tired of getting it up the tailpipe everytimne i take one of our trucks tothe station to fill up, so I have decided to start making my own fuel. Ihave only checked into one kit, and that was the fuel mister II. I liked it because I can order it and have it going in no time, and it said that you could make two batches a day with it. I have heard of people building their own process, and have wondered how much better that is than buying ne complete.
Second, I think that I have secured a source for WVO, but still have to confirm it. I dont want to get the cart in front of my rig, so to speak. What am I going to need? I have read a few sites, but they seem to talk in words that I dont understand, with terms like washing, etc......
What I need is someone that ACTUALLY KNOWS what they are doing to help me out. No offense guys, but if your not sure, or are going by what a friend has told you that knows a guy that makes his own fuel, I would like to stay away from reading what that post contains. Anywhooo......someone, anyone, Bueller....Bueller............LOL

Buying a ready made BD system is expensive especially when you cam make your own for about $200 to $300 no special skills needed.
Should you opt to run WVO instead of BD consider buying a conversion kit for your truck. There are some good ones available as well as some pure S***.
There are a few folks here that swear by blending. It is quite risky you are gambling your engine against the few bucks you may save by not making BD or doing a good truck conversion to run WVO.

Did you read that article HIGH??? It said you can pump out 80 gallons in a 24 hour period 7 days a week with that little booger. I dont believe it. I think that I am going to call tomorrow to see what the deal is. Wonder if I could get a better deal on two, three , or so on. Do you know anyone that has a system like this? Everyone I talk to says that you can only make bio at a actual plant in a day. They say no home system that they know of can produce even close to what the claims for the FM2 is. I will make the call tomorrow and post what I learn from them, or atleast what they claim.

they also make a 1000 gallon a day machine. WOOOOOO............
Anyhow, here is what they told me on the phone. Machine runs 2995 plus shipping which is an additional 230 bucks, depending on the price of fuel. (isnt that Ironic)
The FM2 produces 40 gallons of bio in a 8 hour period, with about an hour of hands on work, the rest of the time, that machine does its thing.

before you jump head first into this i would try doing some home brewing of making biodiesel just so you get the process down i have made a few test batches so far its not hard to do but sit down read and understand the process. then fing places to buy the methanol and lye you need to convert the oil into biodiesel this will help you produce quality biodiesel

Our family is a racing family, and If I were to do this, it would be here at home in the detached garage. Problem is, with the lye, and the meth, I am afraid that the kids would get into it, or the dogs. We are in and out of "mini shop" constantly working on dirtbikes, drag car, etc.... Especially when its good weather, its a gathering place for our family and friends. I dont know how comfortable I am with fues and said issues with everyone being around it.

I looked at the Fuel Meister II as well.. I don't see anything on it that would make me spend $3000 for it.. and you cannot get two batches a day without adding an additional tank for washing. The 1000 gal/day unit costs $350,000 and hear they are having trouble making biodiesel that meets ASTM. I am in northern CA and there is a place here in Chico making processors that are all stainless steel.. glass linned tubing.. the works.. I viewed lab testing results from batches they had made and they exceeded all the ASTM guidlines.. they use the "foolproof" method of batching (esterfication-acidic then transesterfication-basic reactions) so you always use the same amount of chemicals for every batch (no titrations). It has hoppers you fill with the methanol for the reactions. all one unit, kind of like a big washing machine. Hit the start button and it does the rest, 48 hrs later (60 hrs if you need it to dewater for feedstock) you can come and put the fuel nozzel in your tank and pump it in. If I had money I would like one but they are $8K for the 50 gal and $12K for the 50/75/100 gal version. but it is a real nice design... alas I am poor with reguards to funds, so I am looking at making my own out of 55 gal drums now...

They are speaking of the BioPro on there, those are the ones I looked at made in Chico, CA. I just can't afford it. Although, they do have leasing available and costs about $300/mo that way, if you have good credit which I don't! They are sold on a number of sites but the company is AGR Energy (agrenergy.com), and couple of college students (engineer and chemist) got together and started the company. Tell them I sent you! I know a lot of people who spend over $300/mo on fuel, and with how they are built they should last for decades. They are about finished developing a dry wash system that can be added to the BioPro, which would double the production. And they are working with a local coop to develop a continuous processor which wont be out til maybe next year.
I have done a little learning already without joining that site :P
