Fuel leak, back of motor..

I have an early 99 with 175k miles that has a fuel leak. I have replaced the water drain valve o-rings and all is dry as a bone around the fuel bowl. I however still have a leak from the back of the motor. Enough so that if I leave the truck in the same spot running (or shut it down) Ill have a small puddle in a few minutes. The engine valley is dry. It seems to me like it can only be comming from the passenger side fuel like running to the back of the passenger side head (behind the turbo, very difficult to see even with a mirror). Anyone else have a leak similar? Before I get all contorted on the engine trying to put my hand on this fitting I wanted to see if anyone has had this problem and could share advise.

Check the fuel rail fitting on the rear of the head. You'll see the fitting under the downpipe close to the passenger's side up-pipe. It could be that the fitting is loose, cracked, or the line may have a hole in it.

well, i gave some incorrect information. I do have a fuel leak, however, the engine valley DOES have fuel in it. Rather it had fuel in it. My problem was/is the fuel line running from the fuel bowl to the left side head (drivers side head) had a pin hole leak in it. The leak happened from the line rubbing against the block. I found it by really cleaning out the valley and firing her up and watching fuel slowly appear.
My part is on order and will be here Monday, but for now, Ive taken a piece of 1/4" rubber fuel line and slit it and put it over the pinhole leak with a hose clamp to get me till Monday. Its only about 50 psi in that line, right?

Anyway, make sure your lines aren't rubbing anything wrong!!

That same thing happened to me, I went to go to a supermoto, and i go to an atm to get some cash, I get out and notice someone was leaking a lot diesel before i got there, then I noticed it was POURING out of my engine compartment. My passenger line rubbed against the intake plenum, resulting in a hole. Well, this was on a saturday, I drove it back 5 miles(scariest 5 miles of my life, fuel was pouring all over the place), got it in my buddies barn, ran to the auto parts store 5 minutes before they closed and got some standard rubber fuel line and 5 clamps. Cut the bad spot out, put the rubber hose and clamps on, and left it that way for about 3 months(i drove ALOT with it), it never failed, but i installed Regulated return and got rid of it. It should be good for a temporary line.

I'm starting to see a common issue here. I guess I know what I'll be doing tomorrow.

For the original poster all I can suggest is cleaning the engine and then getting a flashlight and mirror and start looking.

Fuel lines

I know I'm replying to a 20 year old thread but I found it in the search. I am having a similar issue 94.5 PS. I thought it was the fuel bowl leaking so I replaced it with a new motorcraft fuel bowl and high pressure hoses. No leaks around the new bowl now. No fuel in the valley.

I am still dripping diesel at a steady rate with the rig running. It looks like the fuel is dripping down from the hard lines on the driver side where they bend up behind the fan/ water pump.

Would anyone know what these lines would be called or a part # reference? Thank you.
