According to what I have read the 6.4 has about 30 to 35 horses over the 6.0. But it weighs about 1500 pounds more than the 6.0. I would think this would give the 6.0 an advantage in a drag race but the 6.4 should probably pull better. That new Tundra is fast from the start but would you want to pull 15,000 pounds with it. I sure wouldn't.

I'm sick of people putting the superduty and the tundra in the same category.

Don't let it bother you they can not compare other than they are both pickup truck's.
And as far as drag race o-60 1/4 mile and it won't go 100 mph all that poop that is just frivolous nonsense.

I see both sides of the arguement, but still just because not everyone tows 100mph, doesn't mean it wouldn't be nice to take it out and have a little fun every once in a while. Not to mention traffic speed around some US cities does see 85+ mph going with the flow of traffic.

The drag racing isn't "drag racing" maybe per se, but a diesel should have torque to get off the line. With all the torque, it SHOULD be able to keep up with a tundra 1/2 ton or not. Why it doesn't, I am not sure. The only thing I can think is that the PSD truck is defueled like the GM in first gear to keep it from lighting the tires like I am sure it could do with a moderate tune in it.

I would also like to tow faster than 65mph with 22k on behind, heck 70 is the speed limit in Indiana and a lot of the RV's are getting huge. 78mph should be cake.

As for the tuner, the tuners can cheat the EPA, Ford can't there is a huge amount of timing and difference which is mainly for NOX reduction. Therefore more timing and and less fuel, and you can still gain hp at that. Therefore you can gain hp and improve fuel economy. But if the truck was the same as far as timing, then more fuel is less economy. The change is in the timing.

I still don't understand the deep gearing in the rear end. Why 4.30's and 4.88's etc etc?

This is my first diesel, coming from a 05 V10. I agree that it isn't very lively coming off the line, I was a little suprised really. I thought it would have more. However from 40-80 mph it is awesome and thats where I want it anyway. Where it really gets nice is with a heavy load behind it. I tow a lot but this weekend I got to stretch her legs. 500 miles, with a 14500lb boat on the trailer 50 foot long. We ran from 70-75 the whole way with stretches to 80 and I was so amazed. I will put it up against an stock 08 from any brand doing that trip.

Keep in mind, the speed limiter is there because the tires are not rated to go faster.

Maybe because I drove semi' truck and operate a fleet of trucks pulling tankers makes me look at it diff. I have never purchased based on how fast they get to 60mph !

I look at these things and then spec the the truck for tanker service.
14 pete's / 3 frtliners
cats /detroit
hp/torq durability driver comfort

These trucks will go 100 mph + but we dont do that. My point is that a p/u "truck" should have these same features. ford gmc and dodge for the most part all do so pick the one that fits you best and dont let anyone tell you otherwise.

While I am ranting lol. Brand loyaty is backwards /they need to sell it more than you need to buy it >commercials are a waste of time. Do you see pete/kw/mack/frt lnr on TV
