For those who are chipped or tuned...

I'm running an edge evo set at 80 hp. I'm wondering if i should tune it down to 60 for general everyday driving. for those who are chipped or tuned, what do you typically run for cruising around town?

Whatever your pocketbook can afford at the pump Most run the eco tune from Jody, bout 80hp-ish. Other drive with the chip locked in the smoke tune. Its whatever you prefer and whatever keeps you in check with your EGT's

I ran an evolution on my 7.3L for a while and got the best fuel economy out of the 100hp extreme setting. Heat was never an issue for highway/city. Always turned it down for towing. Now I have a DP.... =0) Much nicer.

I have a edge evo II and prolly best mileage on highway is in the 100 hp extreme setting. Around town its about the same in all of them. Its just fun with the extra power. I also tow with mine in the 100 hp setting and i have a 4 down pipe to 5 inch straight system and my egts always stay within check. Some hills get around to 1200 but not serious.

I tend to go around in my hottest tune right now. Although, when it starts raining again regularly, that'll have to change. It rained all day this past Saturday, and traction was once again an issue making right and left turns with any more pedal than "very gentle."

so in the 100 horse setting in daily city driving, i shouldn't expect any additional wear and tear on the engine/drivetrain?

Sure you should! Anytime you add more fuel it will wear more on the engine and the drivetrain components. The more you put your foot in it (jack rabbit from the red lights) the more wear and tear you'll have. Drive it easy on the higher tunes and you may see the better mileage.

I run mine in the 80 Econo 95% of the time. I only bump it to the 120 Race when I need to. Best mileage for me was just under 19 averaging about 65mph on the highway (not Interstate). I get between 15 & 16 normally.
