yblock rebuilder needed N.E.OHIO/W.Pa.
I am looking for a rebuilder for my yblock near Cleveland-Erie and basically want someone who has dealt with these engines before. My guy is a Mopar guy and is awesome---but he is uncomfortaable working on this 272. I will hopefully at least get heads done and intake and carb done till I find someone.......Christmas is comin'----need money----build a kick-*** 272 and put my paxton supercharger on it!!!!! Bill

Y Block
Bill I have a couple of 292's that I might part with. Both are out of trucks and in fair shape. If your building a supercharged engine be sure to use Forged Pistons Check the rods and install new rod bolts. ring end gap is critical in a supercharged engine for durability. Camshaft selection and compression ratio
are critical to supercharged engine performance. Time spent on the heads as in a good multi angle valve job and porting will make all the difference in perormance. Time spent setting up the distributor advance curves and carb setups will pay off. I have set up blown and turbocharged engines for street and strip if you need any help just E-Mail or Call 814-635-2007 ask for John

Hotwrench---thanks man!! I am in limbo--trying to decide to buy other engines. I also,am going to use the paxton/mccullough supercharger that is used on a 63 R2 AVANTI. I also have an extra charger and figure to use it,unless I do not rebuild and that is a possibility,as a few guys have offered y blocks to me for sale. Thanks again, and I will keep your post for my needs in the future on this job----Bill

Hey Bill,
I've got just the guy for you, if you're willing to travel 3 short hours for thirty plus years of experience. The machinist's name is Al Harris, he works for 'Automotive machine' in Fraser, Mi. (just north of Detroit) aka 'Performance Machine'. He also teaches engine machining at a local college. He has given me plenty of advise on my y-block project, and has also shared with me stories about many racers he has built, several of which were y-blocks.
I know I've traveled farther for good parts before, so I think it would be worth the trip for a good machinist as well. If you want more info you can write me at playzintrafic@yahoo.com
Best of luck,
