ohm question

Any issues using 2ohm speakers with a 4ohm amp? Thanks.

That depends on what you mean by 2ohm speakers. Are they dual voice coils? How many speakers? You do not want to put a 2ohm load on an amp only rated to handle 4ohm.

They are Infinity 6 1/2" componets 6020cs. Kenwood 40W x 4 amp.

you can wire 2 speakers to make them 4 ohms. then it works great

Well they sound great. What will be the issue? Burnt up amp?

Lower impedence speakers will cause more current to flow through the amp, more heat, possibly blown fuses, possibly blown power IC's.

Hot power IC's put out more distortion so at higher volumes it won't sound as good. May or may not be an issue for you....

they might sound even better when wiref correctly. it will also be easier on the amp. there is a tutorial in the audio video tech folder, clikc back once and at the top of the page. it will help you wire your speakers for your amp. then you might be able to turn the amp down and let it breath easier
