Hydraulic Line to Slave Cylinder..WTF?!?
Hello all,
This past weekend, i was able to finally replace a leaking slave cylinder in my '93 F150. It was so nice of FoMoCo to conveniently place inside the bell housing....but i digress...
Anyway, after getting everything back in order, I went to attach the hydraulic line into the new slave cylinder. But what's this?!?!? It won't fit!!! Aaargh!! It was close, but it seemed like the new slave cylinder had a tapered-down reciever, while the hydraulic line had a flat end to it. A trip to Auto Value with the old hydraulic line confirmed this difference. Siiigh.
So, I had to order a new master cylinder/hydraulic line, as the original master cylinder in the truck would not allow the hydraulic line to be disconnected. Aaargh. Another $100+ for parts that work perfectly fine.
Anyway, aside from the rant (sorry!!), has anybody else run into this issue?? Did I miss something from the beginning??
I'm just thrilled to finally replace this leaky slave cylinder. I also put in a new clutch and rear seal while I was in there. So, all was not lost!!
Thanks

How would he be able to compare the end of the old hydraulic line to the new slave cylinder until he has it all apart?
That sucks you had to go through that, and I don't know what "Auto Value" is, but it sounds like a discount parts store. You get what you pay for. Personally, I would have paid for a new Ford part, as the old one you had lasted 14 years. I wouldn't count on a discount part lasting more than a year.

I'm buying a '94 that the owner told me he had to replace the clutch master & slave cylinder on a few years ago- told me he took it to a shop and they told him they had to replace everything, couldn't just replace one component.
Maybe this is why?
The truck also has a super stiff clutch pedal which I will be looking into fixing...
